After nine years, Gap Inc. has announced its plans to close the online and single brick and mortar store, Piperlime. While Gap does not release separate revenue reports for their individual stores, they do report that Piperlime has grossed the smallest of their portfolio. Gap currently plans to focus on their five other retail stores Gap, Banana Republic, Athleta, Intermix, and Old Navy.

Brian Torchin has read that Piperlime originally started as an online shoe boutique, but quickly grew to carry clothing and accessories. It was known for carrying sought after fashion designs from Michael Kors to DVF. Rachel Zoe and Olivia Palermo frequented the site as guest editors to give their latest fashion tips and advice. The singular physical store, located in New York, will be closing simultaneously with the online retailer. Gap stated that both stores would close before the end of the first quarter of 2015 fiscal year.
