Many people might have the image of a political lobbyist of only being involved in whatever policy issue they have taken up. Andrea McWilliams is someone who breaks that stereotype. She is the co-founder, along with husband Dean, of McWilliams, a government consulting firm. Along with her work on political campaigns and fundrasiers, she is also very active in philanthropic groups and events. Andrea McWilliams has been a board member for Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital, Austin Children in Crisis, HeartGift, and Rise Across Texas Challenge.

Another passion of hers is the fight against cancer. Andrea McWilliams has taken part in events put on by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and KillCancer. She also served as the honorary chairwoman for the Mamma Jamma Ride, which raises money for non-profit organizations that help women with breast cancer. McWilliams has shown off her dancing skills for a good cause. She participated as a local celebrity dancer in Austin’s “Dancing with the Stars” event to help the Center for Child Protection.

Andrea McWilliams helped raise money for former President George W. Bush, aided in the presidential campaign of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, and was a supporter of Texas Senator Ted Cruz in his bid for the White House. She also helped craft legislation to fund environmentally friendly coal power plants in Texas.

Andrea McWilliams has collected numerous awards and honors over the years. She was named a Style Setter by Austin’s Fashion Week, received a “Woman of Distinction” award from the Girl Scouts of Central Texas, and was a finalist for Texas Businesswoman of the Year by the Texas Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
